Wamena, Sunday, February 15, 2026 – The First Joint Worship Service of the Children and Youth Commission 2026 at the GIDI Kolose Wamena Congregation was held with great joy and God’s blessing.
The Word of God was delivered by Mrs. Ester Yahuli, S.Pd., Chairwoman of the Women’s Commission of the Baliem Valley Classis and also Chairwoman of the Children and Youth Commission of the Bogo Region. In her sermon, she reflected on the story of Joseph, whom God prepared from a young age; although he was underestimated because of his dreams, Joseph remained obedient to his parents and faithful to God until the Lord exalted him as a leader in Egypt at the age of 30 (Genesis 41:36–39). She also advised Sunday School children and teenagers to stay away from things that can harm their bodies and future, such as marijuana, alcohol, cigarettes, inhaling Aibon glue, and unhealthy associations, emphasizing the memory verse Romans 12:17: “Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but do what is right in the sight of everyone.”
After the service, the Chairwoman of the GIDI Children and Youth Commission of the Baliem Valley Classis, Mama Nonce T. Gurik, shared her impressions and message, expressing how deeply moved she was by the sincere welcome and loving service of the GIDI Kolose Wamena Congregation toward the children and youth. When we arrived at the church yard, we initially thought the busy parents were preparing for another event, but it turned out to be a genuine expression of their wholehearted acceptance and service. Such hospitality is rarely encountered and stands as clear evidence of the congregation’s commitment to nurturing the faith of the next generation of the church and the Land of Papua. For this service, heartfelt thanks were extended to all the parents of the GIDI Kolose Wamena Congregation.
Mama Nonce also conveyed her appreciation and gratitude to the Sunday School teachers, most of whom are mothers. Amid their busy schedules, ministry responsibilities, and various challenges in family life, they remain faithful in serving the children with sincere hearts. This faithfulness is no small matter, but a sacrifice of great value before God. “The Lord will surely bless every act of faithfulness,” she declared with confidence.
