Wamena, January 10, 2025 — Kicking off the new ministry year, the GIDI Kolose Emerging Congregation in Wamena held a 2024 service evaluation as an initial step to strengthen the direction and strategy of its ministry throughout 2025. The internal meeting involved all church servants, including elders, deacons, youth, and ministry department leaders. The evaluation was a reflection of the congregation’s commitment to reviewing the programs carried out in the previous year, assessing their effectiveness, and identifying both the challenges faced and achievements gained. In his opening remarks, Deacon Chairperson Yohanes R. Gurik emphasized that the purpose of evaluation is not to point fingers, but to improve and refine future ministry efforts so that they align better with God's will and the needs of the congregation. "We need to be honest in evaluating our ministry last year. The goal is not to blame anyone, but to ensure we improve our steps this year. A good ministry is one that is well-planned, measurable, and always open to correction," stated one of the church elders during the opening session. Key areas of focus during the evaluation included the effectiveness of Sunday worship services, youth ministry, compassion ministry, spiritual development, and evangelism. Discussions also covered congregational involvement, resource management, and internal communication among leaders. The evaluation produced several strategic notes for the 2025 ministry plan, including: strengthening cross-departmental coordination, improving the quality of worship and preaching, enhancing children and youth ministry, and conducting training sessions for church servants. The session concluded with a joint prayer and reaffirmation of the servants' commitment to begin 2025 with renewed spirit, impactful ministry, and full submission to God’s will.
