Wamena, December 7, 2024 — GIDI Kolose Congregation joyfully began the 2024 Christmas season with a Christmas Opening Service combined with a Men’s Fellowship Worship on Saturday, December 7, 2024. The service took place at the temporary worship building of GIDI Kolose and was attended by members from across the GIDI Balim Valley Classis in Wamena. This event marked the beginning of a series of Christmas celebrations throughout December, centered around the theme: “Glory to God in the Highest, and Peace on Earth” (Luke 2:14). The service was led by Rev. Kudligagal, S.Th., and featured praise and worship as well as the preaching of God’s Word. In his sermon, the preacher emphasized the meaning of Jesus Christ’s birth as good news for all humanity, while encouraging men to take an active role as spiritual leaders in their families, churches, and communities. “Christmas is not just about celebration, but about life renewal centered on Christ. Men are called to be pillars of ministry and examples in everyday life,” he stated firmly. The event also served as a moment to strengthen fellowship and solidarity among church members, particularly among men, who have played a key role in building this relatively young congregation. The program concluded with a joint prayer and a warm fellowship gathering, filled with a spirit of togetherness and gratitude for God’s guidance throughout 2024.
